In this project we were told to chose five words that describe our specific personality. I chose the words fun, childish, interesting, serious and silly. I chose the word fun because I always like to have fun and try and find ways to make that happen, I chose the word childish because even though i am nineteen I still see the child like actions come out in me all the time, I picked the word interesting because some of the things I do are different and intriguing from the ways others might do, I chose the word serious because when it is necessary I can be very serious even though it may not be my most common feature and finally I chose silly because I always fool around and goof off which is silly.
In my final project I made the word fun my focal point by using the art element scale, in which I made that word the largest. Next I made it so your eyes would go upward to the word serious by using scale and making that word the next biggest, I also think the art element color helps to emphasize the word serious by keeping that in gray scale on my colored one. Next you continue upwards to childish and follow that word backwards to the left and back down to interesting, then finally back to silly.
I positioned the words each so that the entire page is covered and there is no empty space. This would be using the art element balance so that no part of the page is more heavy than the other. I believe this was the most challenging part of the project, trying to make the words pop out and look exciting while keeping them each balanced.
My design was asymmetrical so that if you were to cut it in half both sides of it would not be the same. I did this by putting different words on different areas of the page and typing them in different ways and font styles. The font styles showed how I see each word and which font would portray it best.
We were told to use the rule of thirds in which you place each word in different locations on he page, one on the top part then middle and finally the bottom and I did that.
I think the word serious shows value by being very bold and dark. Even in the colored version I kept it dark but then casually it got lighter, forcing your eyes to follow the word to the right. Serious is not fun at all therefore that was the one word I needed to keep in not fun and bright colors to emphasize its meaning.
The word fun I put it in all caps and pushed the letter U up higher to show movement. With the word childish I used a variation of size in the font and rotated the D upside down to make the word look like exactly what it means. In the word interesting I used various colors to make each repeating word look different.
In conclusion I believe my project met each one of the guidelines that we were asked to follow.
